Hey guys,
So I literally just took two exams…. If you ever get a chance to take a Post Colonial American History course, you definitely should! The course I’m taking right now started out at the end of the American Revolution in 1776, and goes right through to the American Civil War in the 1860’s…. Fascinating, right?
Anyways, stress… Stress is something that all students develop. Whether it’s during exams or tennis season… it is going to happen. The most friendly piece of advice I could offer would be to take a step back, take a break (go to the gym for an hour or so) and then re-approach what you are studying. You will feel so much more relaxed now that you have time to distress as I like to say, rather than studying four hours with no breaks.
That’s all about stress…… So now I want to share a little story with you about my day. Today, in my last class, my history professor took us to listen to a guest lecturer speak about “Soul Food” and it’s influence on American inhabitants. Can you imagine the drastic impact African food has had on America, before and after the antebellum period? Neither can I, but what astounded me was the motivation and enthusiasm this professor brought with him. I mean, he just was so excited talking about how food influenced American cultural values, shapping identiy and so forth. I was particularly exicted for the history club who sponsored the event. Although I am a member, I have not had the time to attend the past couple of meetings due to a demanding tennis season.
Anyways, it’s been a really tough week, studying for mid terms and all, and I am about to collapse. But I am definitely looking foward to a relaxing birthday weekend….. My girlfriend just arrived (hopefully to spoil me this weekend) and is studying at our friendly campus Starbucks while I sit here and blog away. Furthermore, on Sunday, my family is coming to spend the day with me which I am particularly thrilled about.
So, until we meet again,
The one and only
Matti
