Just before break we had a sweet event at the gym called “Panther Madness!”  It was a nice introduction to the winter sports which we created through SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee).  Each team ran out onto the basketball court and were introduced by our SID (Sports Information Director).  The women’s swimming team (who are crushing the competition right now) held a relay race where they picked audience members to participate.  I was picked!  I had to put on a life vest, goggles, flippers, and hold a piece of styrafoam between my legs then run across the gym!  It was more of a waddle than a run : /  Women’s basketball had a 3-point shoot-out against the crowd and the men’s basketball team had a slam-dunk contest!  Those guys can fly.  They were breaking out some 360’s, backwards slam dunks, and one kid even blindfolded himself!  Once the teams were finished the band “Under the Rasta Influence” began to perform.  It definitely was a success!

Another event was “Election Confessions” at the Neuberger Museum on campus.  I’m on a programming committe which put it all together!  In one of the studies we taped students reactions about the elections and then projected them to the main lobby.  We had almost 20 students talk! For some, it was there first time voting ever!  Students spoke about their reasoning behind voting for each candidate which was enlightening.  Also in the lobby we had a looping video of the election night and students first reactions.    There were also some students who performed live inbetween the confessions who were amazing as always.

Today I get to present a mock lesson for my Intro to Teaching Science class.  Wish me luck!

Hope everybody had a nice Turkey Day!

Let’s get ready for Pancake Madness!!!  Check back soon!
